Field Trip - Shedd Aquarium

View all 8 photos...
We took the train into the city again this weekend. To Shedd Aquarium. Or in sister's lingo "maquarium". Did not finish to check out all the exhibits this time. Bro was getting tired, we forgot the stroller and were running out of time. Need to get to a birthday party a few blocks from Grant Park. Had to carry bro most of the way back to our friend's apt. He slept through A's birthday party. I am glad that he did. When he woke up he was his nice little self again.

We might come back next month. In fact we'll probably make a few more trips to the aquarium this year. Have to make full use of the aquarium membership.

During our recent trip to the $store, sister insisted that I get het a set of gems. Tak nak belipun kesian especially considering that it is only a dollar. So I bought her a gem set as well as rubber bands, hair ribbons, hairbands and stickers. All priced a dollar each. Balik rumah dia menerai sakan. Nak pakai subang, asked for me to do a pony tail or two on her head.

I had to get brother to the emergency room today. He had sister's neon green crayons and a bead up his nostrils. I thought his booger was unusually green this morning. I decided to check his nose. Sure enough, I saw this green piece of crayon barely sticking out of his left nostril. Just for kicks, I decided to check the other side too. Hoola baloo, he had a crayon as well as a pea sized bead up his nose. I was able to gently picked the one crayon out. But the other one with the bead waaay up there (and who knows what else is in there) requires medical intervention. It a wonder how he made through the night with his nose so stuffed up. Boy will be boys. I supposed. Brother is at the phase where his world revolved around his nose (and picking it!) But it is also good to know he is in touch with his feminine side. During a nap recently, I found out that he'd had put himself to sleep surrounded by sister baby doll and his spiderman ( he loves spiderman). And he found a better use for the doll's mock milk bottle...it is to dig his ear while he get into the mood to close his eyes. His way of unwinding, I supposed.

sister and brother both are very comel lah kak maz. i bet she enjoys those bling-blings very much! Thu 1-Jun-2006 01:30

Wi$consin Dells

I get to check another item off the list of places to go before the kids turns 18. Over the weekend we joined 5 other families for a frolicking fun time in the water at wisconsin dells. It was tiring but it was well worth it. And going in a group only made it more fun and economical. Each family brought along one or two or three dishes enough to feed about 10 hungry adults and ten hungry kids. My kids were able to enjoy themselves with adults and kids familiar to them. We will try to do this kind of group vacation at least once a year. It will only get easier as the kids grows older. Next time we come here maybe sister will already master her strokes so I don't have to be so deep in water fully clothed (i.e. looking really weird and out of place) to keep an eye on her as well as brother.

Mother's Day 2006

This year mother's day was hectic but wonderful. This year we decided to join a few other friends for the annual y-me breast cancer 3 miles walk around grant park in chicago. Not wanting to drag the kids out of bed for the early morning train to chicago, we decided to stay overnight at a friend's place. just a few blocks away from grant park. took the late afternoon train in. wasn't sure if i could leave my ar in the parking lot overnight. so had to drive to my office and leave the car in the parking garage and then walked to the train station. Pushing brother in the stroller and having sister walked next to me, we trudged along in the drizzle to the train station. Kids were having a blast since it is not often that they get to walk in the rain. we slept very little that night. the children were excited to be in chicago and spent the night getting each other as well as noah and aidan too hyped-up to sleep. sunday morn came so soon. but we did managed to push and shoved everyone out of the door by 8.30 am. There were tonnes of of people already at grant park by the time we get there. In the throngs of people, we got separated. Sister was with Yati, Sham and Fauziah. I had to get in a different line to pick up my package. A few minutes later, I there were just me and brother. Trying to locate the rest of the group in that ocean of heads is simply impossible. I know sister is with my group so I was not too worried that she might be lost. I trust that between Syam, Yatie and Fauziah sister is in good hands. But it would have been more fun if we were together, walking as a family. I want to try to do this for mother's day every year. it seems more meaningful.
On the train sister busied by stringing a mother day beads bracelet for me. She is into beading these days. I bought a starter pack for her a few days ago and she has been busy making a myriad of bracelets and necklaces, for herself mostly. Anyway, from union station we walked the six or seven blocks to my fraind's place. So, just before the official mother's day walk, sister and I already put in our own 3 miles. And then on our way back we walked another 3 miles. Altogether, we walked about 9 miles over the weekend. I am so proud of sister. All the time that she was walking she complained very little. And there were times, she'd even try to push brother's cart for me. By the time we were in the car on our way back the next day, she is zonked out. Both of them slept from about 7 pm till 7 am this morning. Only then did sister told me that her left foot hurt. Kena monitor hari ni. May be she'll need some tylenol tonight.

best nampak kak maz BC Walk. kat sini pun ada jugak, 60 miles in dallas in oct. ingat nak join, tapi tak tau la kot time tu dah tak dok sini lagi. insyallah awal bulan june tahu la apa plannya.

kita pun planned nak gi chicago summer tahun ni, kawan kerja kat JP Morgan in chicago. lama tak jumpa dia, dia beriya ajak datang, rasanya bf dia interning kat chicago spital mana ntah. tapi kena cancel, tersimpang dgn plan lain. mana tahu ada rezeki lagi lain kali, boleh jumpa kak maz & family terus.

Batman and spiderman bersiram

Spiderman and batman in the tub. Don't tell her she can't be Batman, she will insist that she is one, as well as a soccer player. Nevermind that she is not with any team and is not even good at kicking yet, she'd still insist that she is a soccer player.

And the spiderman. I've been hiding his paci. Dah over a month dia tak jumpa menda tu. And then all of a sudden two weeks ago he found his thumb and has been using it to calm himself down. He doesn't do it all the time. Usually only when he sleeps or in the car when he is trying to join the 'space cadets'. I hope he outgrew the habit soon. Nanti mulut moncong! Rongak gigi depan tu habis jatuh saham dan peluang nak jadi orthodontist!

We celebrated earth day at the local forest preserve. She is slightly bothered by the size of the horses. So far she has only been on the back of ponies. I tried unsuccessfully to have her feed one of the horses. Everytime the horse make a sudden movement she would bolt. But when she thinks she is far enough from the horses she'd tell me that she would like to take horseback riding lessons. All in good time, I supposed. First she has to overcome her fear of horses. SInce she had riden ponies before I had thought she'd be okay with full grown horses. Alas, not. Unlike the little brother. This one tak reti takut. I put a bunch of grass in his his hands and showed him how to feed the animals. Berani budak ni. He'd giggled his infectious giggle when the horse tickles his palm as it was feeding.

I like horses. There is a certain pride and majesty in the way horses carry themselves.

Another Year Gone By

I am a year older April 12. Hoping no one would notice but apparently my boss did. Dang. On the homefront, I celebrated the day with a cake with the kids. They wanted to have cake. I was just looking for an excuse to entertain their request. Two days later much of the cake is still there. I am not much of a cake person. By the weekend, it'll probably end up in the trash. Next year I have to remember to just get two cupcakes so they can have their cakes and eat it too and I won't be wasting money nor food on a day I don't feel much at all like celebrating.

selamat hari lahir kak maz. belated! panjang umur, murah rezeki, dan sihat sejahtera. zayne ada rupa anak mak pak arab la kak maz.

p.s. tahun ni kita pun nak masuk satu suku abad dah.

I bought zayn a he-doll from the dollar store couple of weeks ago. Kalau tidak dia dan Alya keeps on fighting for the same barbie doll. Sebelum ni barbie alya dah patah leher dikerjakan oleh zayn. Anyway, wIthin half hour of him getting the doll on chubby little hands, anak patung tu sudah patah kaki. Dah le patah kaki, bodypun dah ditogelkan. So, Alya took the fireman doll jacket and put it on her barbie.
